You see, we had a man break into our house over 10 years ago…twice in the same day/night. We had to fight for our lives and thankfully it turned out in our favor. After that incident Tenny and I were traumatized, more than I thought was possible, and life never has and never will be as it was before that happened. Sleeping was elusive for a long long time. We slept in my parents room for 2 or 3 months for goodness sakes. We were too scared to be 5 feet across the hall from them. Being alone at 9pm in the family room for 5 minutes was hard. We just felt like someone else was going to come in and do the same thing as the last prick did.
However, sometimes a blessing comes into your life and makes you feel comfortable and safe again. Ludo was that blessing. With him on our property we never had to worry that someone was going to come in that had bad intentions. Ludo was the epitome of a protection dog. One that loved our entire family more than anything. I’d say our kids were his favorite and that was so cool to watch.
We had to say goodbye to him yesterday and it was an extremely hard thing to do. Seeing the devastation on our kids faces was something we, as parents, haven’t had to navigate until now. It’s been hard on all of us, but we wouldn’t change having Ludo in our lives for anything.
A dog is a special friend. Thank you for everything Ludo, we will miss you.
