Stealing this post style from Wes Gay

Here are a few ways I've used AI recently:

-Writing journal prompts for my morning routine -Clarifying an idea for a team pitch -Summarizing a 3-page brief into a single paragraph -Refining LinkedIn posts for structure, best practices, and grammar -Outlining steps to transfer one YouTube page to another -Brainstorming names for my wife's consulting business -Seeking advice on handling a challenging situation

AI has unlocked a new process for me, one that I believe can be incredibly beneficial to anyone willing to incorporate it into their daily workflow. I've committed to it far beyond "give me a marketing plan" and have feel like I am just scratching the surface.

You got a favorite prompt you use? I wanna try it!

Do you journal?

For the past 20 years, I’ve been filling up journals with my thoughts, reflections, and conversations with myself and God. It’s my way of processing life—a practice rooted in what Brené Brown calls the “shitty first draft” method. It’s where I let out the unfiltered thoughts that aren’t quite ready for public consumption. I have a stack of journals on my desk that comprise the last 20 years of my life. I've filled notebooks (LEUCHTTURM1917 dotted hardcover to be exact) with my thoughts.

On Monday, I decided to ask ChatGPT to help guide my journaling. Normally, I draw inspiration from books or life events, but this time I felt stuck. So, I turned to AI for a fresh perspective.

I asked ChatGPT for something specific: "Give me 5 journal prompts for a 38-year-old dad of two girls who's focused on providing more for his family, developing himself as a provider and leader, and teaching his daughters the values of hard work, dedication, and focus."

What came back were five prompts that didn’t just get me writing—they got me thinking. They pushed me to reflect on where I’m at, where I want to go, and what kind of man I need to be for my family. And that’s the power of a good prompt: it’s not just about filling up pages; it’s about uncovering deeper truths.

Here’s a practical takeaway—next time you feel stuck, try this method. Be specific about your needs and where you want to grow. Whether it's work, family, or personal development, let ChatGPT craft the prompts that can help you break through that wall.

Here’s another prompt you could use: "Give me 5 journal prompts that help me reflect on how I can be more intentional with my time and energy, balancing my career goals with my role as a father and husband. These prompts should encourage me to think about what’s truly important and how I can make more time for those priorities."

The best journaling doesn’t just document our lives—it drives us forward. If you’re feeling stuck, maybe all you need is a new way to get started.

Give it a try, and see what comes up for you.
