My favorite coworker passed away and it took me over two weeks to share the loss here.
Who, you ask? What esteemed agent, manager, creator, dealmaker? My dog, Brinkley.
Brinkley was 10 years old and worked across influencer marketing, strategic partnerships and e-commerce, attended over 30 online credits worth of classes at UCLA Anderson School of Management and was a constant presence both in-office and on Zoom throughout the majority of my professional career.
He once bailed me out of an influencer marketing deal gone South and became the face of a Nordstrom holiday campaign (thank you Michelle Mares). He was the token dog in short form content at Kin Community, appeared in content on Brother at Vertical Networks and famously stole CEO Michael Wayne's turkey burger during his first week of LA-based employment. He was nominated for Shopify performance awards and in an org-wide presentation, it was joked that it was Brinkley who they really wanted to hire but unfortunately, we came as a packaged deal. He famously sat at the head of the table during a Collabs off-site like the L9 he was.
I share this with my community because so many of you knew him, were on calls with him or had lunch at Mindshare with him (he came everywhere!).
I'm endlessly grateful to my team TikTok and Maurizio Bandi who gave me the flexibility over the past few weeks to spend time with my favorite colleague.
Let this be a reminder, we're lucky to bring our full, authentic selves to work each day; especially when our full authentic selves include a canine companion who loves a squeaky toy moment on Zoom.
