Kyle Wheeler

Group Creative Director at R/GA

Kyle Wheeler is a prominent Group Creative Director at R/GA, a global advertising and marketing agency. He is based in London and has garnered recognition for his innovative approach to design, particularly in emphasizing accessible design and the social model of disability. Wheeler advocates for a shift in how accessibility is perceived within design, arguing that it should be seen as an opportunity for innovation rather than merely a compliance requirement. He believes that inclusive design practices not only benefit society but also represent significant business potential, as the disabled community has substantial disposable income that brands often overlook.13

Wheeler's insights into design extend beyond accessibility; he challenges traditional notions such as "form follows function," suggesting that modern design should prioritize emotional engagement and human experience over mere functionality. This perspective reflects a broader trend in digital design, where user experiences are increasingly centered around empathy and connection rather than just efficiency.3

His educational background includes studies at the London College of Communication, which supports his expertise in user experience and interaction design. At R/GA, Wheeler leads creative initiatives that integrate these principles into various projects, aiming to create more meaningful and inclusive digital experiences.42

What the ad highlights is that we have the technology, we’ve made huge strives, but there’s so much still to do to make the world a truly accessible place — one of our biggest design challenges that can no longer be ignored

I wrote a short piece on why...
