Kyle Whyte

Kyle Whyte is a distinguished faculty member at the University of Michigan holding various positions in the School for Environment & Sustainability, College of Literature, Science & the Arts, and as a Faculty Director of the Tishman Center for Social Justice & the Environment.

His expertise lies in environmental justice, focusing on climate policy and Indigenous peoples, ethical relationships between Indigenous communities and scientific organizations, and issues of food sovereignty, climate change, energy, and the anthropocene.

As an enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, he is actively involved in advancing Indigenous research and education methodologies, collaborating with organizations and Tribal nations globally.

Kyle serves as a U.S. Science Envoy and contributes his knowledge to the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council, the National Climate Assessment, and various other influential committees and boards related to climate and environmental justice.

His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Environmental Ethics, Environmental Justice, Philosophy of Science, and Philosophy of Technology from Stony Brook University.
