I’m really excited by the new wave of AI-powered GTM tools emerging right now.

One thing I really like is the new interface patterns.

On the one hand you have products like Clay and AirOps that feel ‘closer to the metal’ – rawer, more configurable and workflow-oriented. You bring the GTM ideas yourself, and execute them in these tools leveraging their integrations & AI. The DNA of these products is closer to spreadsheets and no-code – they're product cousins of Airtable and Notion.

On the other, services-as-software products like 11x.ai are abstraction layers sitting above everything else, taking all the disparate parts and bundling them together – in their case, as end-to-end AI SDRs. There’s more obviously in common with Perplexity or ChatGPT in terms of how GTM teams will interact with the product.

I think both models will have their place. I’m looking forward to see how they how evolve as products, and how GTM teams will adapt – and as a team building out AI-powered tooling for support & CX, it’s inspiring to see some more novel design patterns really start to take off in a sister category.

4 key considerations for startups looking to leverage AI in their support strategy in the coming months:

⬛ Gather data on your support queries: what % could be solved by customers reading existing docs? What % should be solvable, if only the docs existed? And what % are less neatly solvable by docs but instead require a team member in the loop (i.e. use-case specific success queries, bug troubleshooting, etc.)?

⬛ Update your knowledge base articles at a regular cadence and invest in building out your documentation — you can't layer AI assistance over outdated or thin support content and expect it to be helpful

⬛ Benchmark so you can gauge impact from deploying AI (average resolution time, first response time, etc)

⬛ Think deeply about repurposing other sources of customer knowledge — if there’s a goldmine hidden in community channels, sales collateral, onboarding materials, or elsewhere
