Data and strategy for the public good

Lara Fleischer is the Head of the Well-being Data Insights and Policy Practice Team at the OECD WISE Centre (Centre for Well-being, Inclusion, Sustainability and Equal Opportunity).1 In this role, she leads the OECD's efforts to benchmark countries' performance in well-being, supporting the collection of internationally harmonized data on various aspects of well-being, and evaluating systemic solutions to address well-being inequalities.1

Prior to joining the OECD, Fleischer spent several years in Kenya and Sierra Leone, applying behavioral insights to emerging economic contexts.1 She holds an MPhil in Development Studies from Oxford University.1

Fleischer has been involved in various OECD initiatives related to well-being and policy practice. For instance, she participated in a workshop on "Well-being and Central Banking" in January 2025, where she presented a mapping of central banks' well-being related activities.4

Her work at the OECD WISE Centre involves addressing complex, cross-cutting issues related to inequality, well-being, sustainability, and inclusive growth.2 Fleischer has also expressed interest in mental health promotion and its connection to climate issues, as evidenced by her LinkedIn post from September 2023.3
