How can principles used by orgs modelled on distributed leadership (i.e., co-ops, volunteer lead orgs and peer networks) support us to be flourishing leaders even in a hierarchical model?
Loved the insights shared by Alanna Irving in her article "How to Grow Distributed Leadership". The thing that stood out to me was the journey of a leader in the distributed model - effective mastery of self-leadership leads to effective mastery of other leadership leads to mastery of growing leadership in others.
Many leaders are thrust into leading others without having a solid foundation of self-leadership. This model takes us back to our roots and has us reflect on how we relate to power and what to do with it when we have it.
