After nine years, my time as an Executive Committee and Board Member of the State Government Affairs Council (SGAC) came to an end last week at our Annual Meeting during the NCSL Legislative Summit. I am proud and honored to have served my colleagues in this capacity for nearly a decade. The SGAC Board gave me a front row seat to watch and learn from the best and brightest in the state affairs game. I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to grow professionally, 'lead' during uncertain times (aka COVID-19), and solidify lasting friendships.
As Terra Gray McClelland took the leadership reigns last week, she humbled me with the kindest words of praise and gratitude. Thank you, Terra!! I cannot think of a better person and representative of our profession to lead SGAC into the future. Your strategic and thoughtful approach to innovation and problem solving is as impressive as your warmth and kindness.
I am excited to sit back and enjoy the future of SGAC with Terra, Tom Foulkes, Fred Zeytoonjian, Anika Dyrstad Hagenson, and Dmitri Siegel leading an amazing amazing Board of Directors, and with Beth Loudy, Crislyn Lumia, Taylor Mullon and Katherine Kilgore ready to make all their vision come to life.
