This has been my go to playback rig for the last few years! I used it at the Hollywood Bowl last weekend for Seal and I’ve used it on the last 5 American Idol seasons and countless other shows. It’s heavy in rotation in my company fleet of rigs (get us if you need gear!) This particular rig has dual MADIface XT interfaces which can run either digital or analog thanks to the Andiamo with a BLDS switcher (which automatically switches to the backup computer if there’s an issue). There’s a Mutec clock and Geist power conditioner. Total of 24 analog outs or 64 for digital at 48kHz. On the software side I’m running dual laptops running Live (of course) and our setlist controller which I use with the Setlist app. Let me know what questions you have! Want to learn more about the art of playback? Check out the page where we have links to our many courses on live show playback and also courses for independent artists learning to build your own show!

🤓 GRWM to do playback on American Idol It’s my 6th season doing the music playback on the show and I’ve perfected my pre show ritual. I make sure to get in some stretching and breath work beforehand to ground myself before and after sitting and using technology. Then I check my session and line check to triple check that all of the lines work. I check both systems for redundancy which is what this switcher does. Then I hit the restroom (very important to time this right so I don’t have to pee during the show!) Grab some camomile tea so I can have a soothing drink during the show. Turn on Do Not Disturb on all my devices so I’m completely focused. Then I’m all ready! LFG! Go for show! 💪 And then we do the show! It’s a 2 hour long show. Before I know it, it’s over and the credits are rolling. See there’s me! It’s such an honor to be a part of this! Let me know what questions you have! And if you want to learn more about playback check out our courses on the HUB!
