When I started my company Spitfire Coach in 2016, I wanted to create more flexibility, impact and creativity not just for my clients but for myself as a business owner.
When I got pregnant, people urged me to take time, to get support, to rest - you know all of the internal projections that had nothing to do with me :)
I had a very clear vision post birth, to work as I wanted and to be present with my family as I wanted. To scale back to the essential and aligned clients I wanted to work with.
On June 24th, that vision became a reality and I have been super lucky in a quick recovery and ample support system. I know that others are not this fortunate and I am so grateful for the position I’m in.
I honestly wish parents didn’t have to decide between work and time with their families. I wish we could’ve an integrated “and” approach that leveraged personal preference and choice. I wish things were different in this country where we honored the effort it takes to bring a child into this world and raise it.
But here we are.
There is power in your choice. There is power in our individual and collective voice. There is always an opportunity to leverage your power.
