SNF Agora Associate Professor of History at Johns Hopkins University

Leah Wright Rigueur is the SNF Agora Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University, an author, and a political analyst at CNN, known for her award-winning book, The Loneliness of the Black Republican: Pragmatic Politics & the Pursuit of Power.

She is an expert in US political history, modern African American history, American presidential history, race and politics, democracy, political ideologies and institutions, as well as modern social protest movements.

Leah holds a PhD from Princeton University, a BA from Dartmouth College, and is a non-residential faculty fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Her new book project, Black Collar Criminals, delves into the experiences of Black individuals working in the Reagan Administration and corporate America in the 1980s and beyond.

She has a rich academic background having held positions at prestigious institutions like Brandeis University, Harvard Kennedy School, and Wesleyan University.

Additionally, Leah has made significant contributions as a political analyst at CNN and a contributor at ABC News.

Her educational journey includes studying at Miss Porter's School, earning an MA and PhD in History from Princeton University, and completing her BA in History at Dartmouth College.
