Highlights
A long while ago, while I was working as a vendor for an insurtech company, I chanced upon an opportunity to work on a project, whose technical lead is a psycho of a git perfectionist.
He has this authoritarian ideologies about how git commits and PRs should be composed, would imposed ridiculous rules on us, and nitpick the shit out of our commits. The most ridiculous rule of them all is: “only ONE commit is allowed per day”. (For context, we were doing trunk based development.)
The funny thing is that the reason he imposed the “one commit” rule was because, and get this: he doesn’t have enough time to nitpick everyone’s commits from the other repos he’s “responsible” for.
It hit a breaking point one day when he requested that I rebase and update a low res icon to a high res one, in a commit from FIVE commits (or days) ago. I can't replace it in the new commit, it had to be done from that specific old commit when the icon was added.
So I did the one thing that every Zhi Fei would do in this situation — I started ignoring his demands.
I would pump in 20-30 commits a day, not intentionally though, the workload was high, and I prefer to commit every time I completed a solid change, like a normal engineer would.
Dude eventually lost his shit, report on me to his boss. His boss then reached out to me and said: “Mr. Aik is weird like that. Is there really no way you can follow his weird ass rules (and make him happy in the process)?”
What a joke, even his boss thinks he’s weird.
So in the end, they decided to place the project under a different tech lead, who gave us zero problems throughout the rest of my time there.
Moral of the story: it’s okay to follow good practices, but sometimes we should also learn to fight back and reject it, when they get overly draconian and stalling back the progress of a feature/project.

Been spending my last few weekends trying SST Ion, a IaaC framework that's very user friendly in the sense that it simplifies a lot of the complicated configuration of yaml files when using Terraform or Serverless Framework.
I especially like how they have a component just for deploying NextJS application, which if you have attempted in other IaaC frameworks, you'll probably know it can get pretty complicated and messy real quick, provisioning like 7-8 resources just to (barely) host it.
This project is a really simple upload and convert your video using FFMPEG that you can find in other IaaC tutorials. But it's fun to try to figure this out myself with my experience in other IaaC.
