After returning to the U.S., Sellers graduated from the University of Texas in 1989. His academic path was not conventional; he worked for a beer distributor, Gidden Distributing, while attending junior college. This experience proved pivotal in shaping his career trajectory, as he was introduced to Brian Tracy's Sales Training, igniting a newfound passion for sales that he would cultivate over the coming years.

Sellers spent eight successful years sharpening his sales skills at Shiner of Austin and Coors Brewing, where he garnered numerous accolades for his performance. His time in the beer industry not only honed his sales abilities but also laid the groundwork for a fierce competitive spirit and expertise in closing deals.

In January 1997, Sellers made a bold leap into the tech industry by joining Dell. Entering the world of computers with no prior experience in an office setting was a significant undertaking. By 2005, he had won several prestigious awards, including Sales Person of the Year twice and multiple honors for sales excellence. He was promoted six times within the fiercely competitive environment of Dell, ultimately rising to the position of Regional Sales Manager. His leadership skills became evident when he successfully led a team of 160 consumer sales representatives in Oklahoma City and played a direct role in launching the company's diversity council.

In 2008, seeking new adventures, Sellers became part of the leadership team at BigCommerce, co-founding the company in June 2009. Under his stewardship, BigCommerce evolved into the fastest-growing hosted e-commerce platform at that time, expanding from zero customers to over 25,000 in just three years. The journey was not only about numbers—it was fueled by passion, innovation, and teamwork, leading to numerous industry accolades during those foundational years.

Tragically, in September 2012, Sellers faced personal loss when his wife passed away from cancer. Simultaneously, BigCommerce underwent organizational changes that resulted in his departure from the company. Looking for change and a fresh perspective, he relocated to Florida.

In December 2013, Lee Sellers joined Citrix, where he found a workplace culture that resonated with him. Over the past seven years, he has taken on various leadership roles, currently serving as the Director of Americas Digital Sales – North Region US.
