If you had a magic wand and can design your work and life any way you wanted, how would you design it? Would you want to work and live the way you do today or change it dramatically? DM me or comment here if you are interested in this topic.
After more than 25 years in corporate America, I am wondering about how to live and work differently for the next 30 years. I know I don't want to "retire," as I love to use my brain/experience, work with interesting people, and solve complex problems. I would be bored to death if I had nothing to solve :-). I actually want to work and learn until the day I die (like those in the "blue zones"). However, it's not always going to be the way I work now.
I came across this term called Vocational Freedom. It is not a well known term, but I am fascinated with it. To me, vocational freedom is about giving ourselves permission to wave that magic wand
- Working the way we want
- Where we want , when we want
- With the type of people we want
- Without worrying about financial stability or societal norms (this is the hardest habits to break for me)
I am on a journey to figure out how to attain vocational freedom in my life. I don't have many answers yet, but am happy to look for them and discuss divergent ideas with others. :-) I look forward to hearing from you.
