This is about leadership first--not politics.
Do we penalize middle-aged women for being successful?
A recent study from the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley, reveals how deep-seated stereotypes can penalize successful women for their competence.
Leadership knows no age or gender (right?!), yet research shows middle-aged women face unique challenges in professional settings.
Leaders of all levels everywhere should recognize and challenge these biases. And they can. 🌍
Are people more likely to criticize Vice President Kamala Harris because of her age and her success in work? 🧐
This is a great article. Please read it. And try to think about the issue before politics. I know it might be hard, but it's possible if you choose to consider your biases.

What does your face say? Is it like a "leadership forecast" for your team?
Over the years, people have told me my stern face intimidates them. I'm sure that makes some of you laugh.
That's my "thinking" face. And if you don't know, you might think, "Dang, what's up with her?!" So I let people know I'm thinking when I am . . . thinking. I don't leave things up to chance that they will "get" how I feel.
Like checking the weather, your team constantly reads your emotional climate based on your expressions and body language. When you walk into a meeting or join a Zoom, they're trying to figure out if it's sunny or stormy based on your face. ☀️⛈️
If you're silent or have a strong reaction, people might assume the worst.
Instead of leaving them guessing, share what's on your mind if you're thinking it but not saying much to go along with your face.
Whether you're feeling frustrated, excited, or unsure, vocalizing helps everyone understand where you're at.
It'll make it easier for everyone to connect and get things done.
