Lesley Esford holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from The University of British Columbia, as well as an M.Sc. in Biology, a B.Admin. in Business Administration, and a B.Sc. in Biology/Biological Sciences from Brock University. She completed her secondary education at Lakeport secondary.

Throughout her career, Lesley has held key positions in several notable organizations. She served as the Executive Director at SFU VentureLabs, a Board Member at NZ Technologies TIPSO, and the Co-Founder and CEO at Durwell Equine Naturals.
