Beautiful tribute to an 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 human ->   https://lnkd.in/gB9YKXTR by Adam Lashinsky. This quote stood out to me:

“It struck me then that this was how Wojcicki approached everything she did:  𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐋𝐘, 𝐏𝐔𝐑𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐘, 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐘. She made the most of a bountiful career and a large family ..."

I wanted to add mine to the many voices who are sharing today that Susan's impact was immense and positive. She made me feel seen, heard, and capable of doing things I didn't think I was ready for. She showed me leadership in action without ever being showy. At one point early-ish in my Google career she asked me for feedback on a speech and I said "do you really want feedback?" She said "yes." I said "OK. It was bad. You lost the audience and I think you could do much better; if you want any help, I would love to help you." She laughed and smiled at me and said "Thank you! That is the kind of feedback I need. What do you think I could have done differently?" So many other leaders require massive ego management. They say they want feedback, but they make it clear that they only want the good stuff. Because Susan was so rooted in the notion that "our job is to do the best job we can on the mission we're on - together," it never felt "about Susan." Therefore, she was trusted and beloved.

SERIOUSLY, RESPECTFULLY, PURPOSEFULLY. What a fantastic way to be. May we all strive to show up more that way for the people who count on us.

Sending love to all who loved Susan and everyone who is feeling her loss, especially her family.
