Lidia Balanovich is a dedicated and innovative junior at Dartmouth College, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science and Human-Centered Design. Her passion lies in exploring the intersections of technology, education, and design, a field that has given her the opportunity to meld her interests with practical experience and academic exploration. Through her academic pursuits and hands-on internships, Lidia has developed a well-rounded skill set that makes her a valuable asset to any project or organization.
At Dartmouth, Lidia has engaged deeply with both Cognitive Science and Human-Centered Design, providing her with insights into user experience, behavioral science, and the ways in which design influences human interaction with technology. Her academic background is complemented by her hands-on experience as a Design Thinking Teaching Assistant at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, where she helps others learn the critical skills required for effective design thinking and problem-solving.
Lidia's professional journey includes a remarkable array of internships and positions with recognized organizations. Her time as a UX Research Intern at Microsoft allowed her to contribute to significant projects that not only honed her technical skills but also deepened her understanding of user-centric design approaches. Additionally, her role as a Product Marketing Intern at Ansys and Product Design Intern at Allscripts provided her with invaluable insights into the tech industry, emphasizing the importance of data storytelling and product management.
Lidia has also been involved in academic research as a Researcher in Cognitive Science at Dartmouth College and a Researcher in Applied Mathematics, where she explored complex issues that combine her love for technology and analytical thinking. Her time as a Product Management & Data Intern at VidMob showcases her ability to bridge the gap between creative design and data analytics, a combination that is increasingly vital in today’s technology-driven landscape. Furthermore, her experience at the DALI Lab as a Product Designer II indicates her commitment to developing impactful design solutions that address real-world problems.
Among her numerous accomplishments, Lidia is proud of her fellowship at Womxn Ignite, an organization dedicated to empowering and promoting women in technology. She has also expressed a keen interest in storytelling with data, highlighting her belief in the power of effective communication through visualization and narrative. Outside of her academic and professional life, Lidia embraces adventure, having spent a week canoeing in the Everglades, an experience that not only highlights her appreciation for the natural world but also her adventurous spirit.
