Liya Weldegebriel

Liya Weldegebriel is a professional in the field of environmental engineering, focusing on the Water-Food-Energy nexus and sustainable development in emerging economies.

She holds a Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering with a GPA of 3.7 from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's Degree in Water Resources Engineering with a GPA of 3.9 from North Carolina State University.

Liya has been involved in various organizations and roles, including being a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University, President of the Black Graduate Engineering and Science Students at the University of California, Berkeley, and holding positions such as Graduate Student Instructor and Researcher at UC Berkeley.

Her experience includes serving as a Project Team Leader for Design for Sustainable Communities at UC Berkeley, an Associate Engineer for Hydraulic Designer at Design Resource Group, and conducting research on water quality, water systems, and waste water to energy at North Carolina State University where she also participated in the REU NSF Fellowship program.
