Liz McEnaney
Historic Preservation & Cultural Heritage Conservation
Liz McEnaney is a highly experienced professional in the fields of historic preservation, urban design, and non-profit leadership, with almost two decades of expertise. She is based in NYC and Dubai.
Throughout her career, Liz has led various place-based projects, partnering with numerous organizations including the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, World Monuments Fund, and Pentagram Design, among others. Her work spans locations from New York's Hudson Valley to New Delhi, India, and Maputo, Mozambique.
Formerly, Liz served as the Executive Director of Sir John Soane's Museum Foundation, where she successfully raised funds and organized lectures to support the museum in London. She also held the role of Executive Director and Board Member of the SS Columbia Project, dedicated to restoring a National Historic Landmark steamboat.
In academia, Liz has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation for the past decade, teaching in urban design and historic preservation programs. She has also contributed to New York University's teaching curriculum.
Liz is a prolific writer, with contributions to The Architect's Newspaper, and a sought-after speaker at various events and organizations such as the World Science Festival and the Museum of the City of New York.
Actively involved in multiple organizations, Liz is a founding Trustee of Awesome Newburgh, a board member of Newburgh's Fullerton Center, Historic Districts Council, and the New York Preservation Archive Project. She is a fellow at the Urban Design Forum and advisor to Columbia GSAPP's Hudson Valley Initiative and Dept of Small Interventions.
Liz McEnaney's educational background includes a Master of Science in Historic Preservation and Conservation from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College.
She is also the Co-Founder of Hudson Valley Collaborative and has held various positions in esteemed organizations such as the James Marston Fitch Charitable Foundation and the Samuel H. Kress Foundation.
