🎵 🎶 The story 🎶🎵 If you know me, you know that music is in my core. Outside work, I was always performing, competing or recording with one group or another. I hadn't sung, however, since before the pandemic. Until now.
After several years of listing "sing again" among my annual goals, I marked the calendar for auditions. I was nervous as anything (I'd been singing but hadn't done theatre in 18+ years!) but went in with the expectation that if nothing more, I'd dipped my toe back in and taken steps to get music back in my life.
Turns out, I was cast in the show. Our first rehearsal felt like coming home. The nerves washed away when we started singing and dancing together and I remembered just. how. much. joy I find in music/theatre/art and the community around it.
I can't believe I let myself go THAT long without this thing that is SO important to me. I can't (won't) imagine what I've missed out on, and am so thankful to think of what's to come now that I'm back in it.
The (expanded) moral of my story : Follow your joy, people. Cut the excuses. Don't let something silly hold you back. Create the space for yourself to do the things you love THE MOST. Life's too short and you're the only person who will make it happen.
