Reflecting on my journey as a mother, I can't help but think about the blast of emotions that followed the arrival of my daughter, Lily. Postpartum depression became an unexpected companion. I felt like a stranger in my own skin. The first year of our lives together was daunting uncertainty, oscillating between moments of torment and overwhelming love.
In sharing my story, I hope to shed light on the reality of postpartum depression, a journey that took me to a psychiatric emergency just a month after Lily was born. While our experiences with postpartum depression may vary, the raw and personal nature of this journey is something I believe every mother can relate to.
