Louis DeRosa

Environmental Engineer Specializing in the Execution of Renewable Energy and Green Technology Projects

Louis DeRosa, P.E., is a former scientist and engineer who transitioned to become a solar developer with a keen focus on addressing climate change challenges through a systematic and inclusive approach.

With a background in laboratory work and a Master's in Environmental Engineering, Louis has played pivotal roles in overseeing environmental compliance for large-scale solar projects such as the Stateline Project and California Flats Project.

Currently serving as a Permitting Manager at First Solar, Louis spearheads development initiatives across California, Nevada, and Arizona, with a strong emphasis on responsible development practices and fostering positive relationships with various stakeholders.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Louis pursues his passion for learning through hobbies such as chocolate making, culinary artistry, and engaging in outdoor activities like camping, skiing, and traveling.

Louis DeRosa's expertise includes permitting, NEPA, CEQA, Incidental Take Permits (ITP), sustainability, utility-scale solar construction, and environmental regulations such as the Endangered Species Act and air/water/waste management.

Educationally, Louis holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Haverford College, a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University, and completed high school at Lick-Wilmerding High School.

Louis DeRosa has held positions at First Solar as a Manager and previously as an Environmental Engineer. Additionally, he has prior experience as an Associate Investigator at DuPont, a Research Assistant at Haverford College, an Intern at URS Corporation, and as a Tutor and Teaching Assistant at Haverford College.
