The cybersecurity worker shortage is more than just an industry problem—it’s a national risk. Every day, enterprise organisations face increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. But as the demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals grows, the talent pool is shrinking. In Australia, there are fewer than 12,000 cybersecurity specialists. That’s one for every 240 businesses.
Here’s what IT leaders should be doing NOW: → Invest in Upskilling: Leverage your current team’s strengths. Invest in their training. Equip them with the skills they need to handle advanced cyber threats. → Rethink Recruitment: Look beyond traditional candidates. Consider people with non-traditional backgrounds. They may bring fresh perspectives that are critical to your security strategy. → Revisit Your Cyber Solutions: The tools and strategies you used last year may not be enough today. Evaluate your current cybersecurity framework. Ensure it’s robust enough to withstand the evolving threat landscape.
