Louise Pulford is a social innovation expert with a vast experience working globally, focusing on Europe and East Asia. She excels in social innovation, building relationships across sectors and borders, and capacity building within organizations.

Previously, Louise has held various roles such as Chief Executive Officer at Social Innovation Exchange (SIX), Chair of Trustees at Alec Dickson Trust, Advisory Board Member at Spitalfields Music, and Coordinator at Social Innovation Exchange (SIX) at the Young Foundation. She has also been involved in the UpRising Leadership Programme and held roles related to events and research at The Young Foundation.

At the end of September, we are bringing amazing people from all over the world to Bloemfontein, South Africa for a #socialinnovation Indaba focussed on ‘#PeoplePowered Change’. In collaboration with the University of the Free State, we will explore what a 21st century economy looks like that is people-powered - https://www.si-indaba.com/
At a time when our narratives all over the world are dominated by polarisation, division and dystopias (and nowhere is this more true than across the UK right now), we need to celebrate the individuals and communities who are coming together to create and fight for change. And South Africa is the perfect place to host this gathering .
As part of the planning, I’ve spent lots of time talking to and learning from brilliant people from different sectors and across the country who are working to create better futures.

As we head into 2024, my conversation with Takashi Sugimoto for The Philanthropist is a great reminder of the importance of bridge building, looking outwards, and learning from people who have different perspectives. This will continue to guide our work at Social Innovation Exchange (SIX) over the next year.
Creating change has to start with people. If we want to build prepared and resilient institutions and societies, we need the best minds from everywhere to work together - that means old and young, from all sectors, and from across the globe.
