Reading this article from my office during one of my weekly visits here. If companies want employees back into the office they should neither force them nor incentivize them. Companies need to re-design their organizations around their preferred work model. If a company believes that sharing office space 3-4 days a week boosts productivity, they need to locate team members in the same location. There is no benefit in coming to the office and spending time on calls with people located in other cities. Employees can do it from home and save commuting time. Team leaders need to create moments of in person decision making or knowledge transfer, like product/project review and enablement that motivate team members to show up, share and feel more productive. The main motivation to got o the office is to meet the right people, feel empowered and deliver better and faster.
