Exciting announcement!

Yesterday I was thrilled to join USDA Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small in Pahrump -- one of the Rural Partners Network's (RPN) priority communities -- to announce a $80M dollar award to the Valley Electric Association, Inc. for a solar + battery storage project to better serve Fish Lake Valley in Esmeralda County.

The award was part of USDA Rural Development's Powering Affordable Clean Energy program (PACE) and is yet another example of the Biden-Harris Administration's #InvestingInAmerica agenda and furthering the White House's commitment to rural America.

The PACE program was made available via the #InflationReductionAct, which represents the largest investment in rural electrification since President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed the Rural Electrification Act into law in 1936. PACE helps make clean, affordable, and reliable energy accessible to the people of rural America.

It's inspiring to see firsthand the positive impact of collaborative efforts between the USDA, local leaders, and the community to address unique challenges and unlock new opportunities for growth. Together, we’re working to ensure that rural communities have the tools they need to thrive.

Yesterday USDA Rural Development Under Secretary Basil I. Gooden, Ph.D. made funding announcements for RD's Rural Partners Network Community Networks, including for Nevada.

The Biden-Harris Administration launched the network in April 2022 to ensure people in historically underserved communities receive their fair share of funding from federal agencies. Since then, USDA has provided more than $1 billion to support thousands of economic development projects in RPN communities.

In Nevada, funding will provide loans to grow small businesses and create jobs. It will also help a rural electric cooperative serving distressed communities replace streetlights with LED lights, saving more than $68,000 a year.
