Why don't telcos block spam calls? If they wanted to, they would!
Ever wondered why spam calls persist? Rumor has it that Verizon profits billions from these calls, with each connection bringing in revenue. This financial incentive makes spam calls a lucrative business for telcos.
Interestingly, services like Google Fi have successfully minimized spam calls by implementing simple heuristics. For instance, mismatched VOIP numbers hint at potential spammers. The solution lies in clever strategies like these.
Verizon, on the other hand, offers a solution to combat spam calls—for a fee of $3.99 per line. It's akin to starting a fire and charging to extinguish it.
The situation raises questions about legality. Perhaps Congress should consider imposing fines on telcos for allowing spam calls. Such measures could make spam calls vanish like magic.

It’s Lowball Season
More than a couple of our companies have been approached by bigger players who have expressed interest in buying the company only to come in with an insultingly low offer. That says more about the market, and what the buyers think is happening to startups, than the companies themselves.
Many startups are running out of runway so they have to accept any offer, and bigger companies want to take advantage of that. With that said, it is still a big company wasting the time of a smaller company who has less manpower.
For founders, it is key to figure out early if the company really wants to pay a price you’d be willing to accept. Oftentimes companies are bottom fishing, hoping to pick up a team or technology for pennies on the dollar. If you aren’t in dire straights, now is probably not the time to entertain suitors since they are shopping for deep discounts.
