Lucia Lazzereschi

Foundation Doctor

Lucia Lazzereschi is an ST2 trainee in histopathology currently based in London.1 Originally from Italy, she moved to the UK and completed a BSc in Medical Sciences with a research year at Exeter, followed by Graduate Entry Medicine at Southampton.1 She then worked as an Academic Foundation Doctor in Oxford before starting her histopathology training.1

Lucia serves as the Social Media Officer and Case of the Month coordinator for the Trainees Subcommittee of the Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland.1 She became interested in histopathology during her Foundation Year 1, after attending events run by the Pathological Society.1

Outside of her medical career, Lucia has been involved in teaching and public engagement, particularly in social prescribing.12 She joined the Social Prescribing Student Champion Scheme in 2018, which she describes as a transformative experience in her medical education.2 This involvement has influenced her daily practice, allowing her to empathize with patients and offer care informed by the realities of their lives.2

Lucia is passionate about widening engagement in pathology and is excited to apply her experience to improve opportunities for trainees and students, as well as strengthen the society's involvement with the general public.1
