Lucine Francis is an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and a steering committee faculty member of the Johns Hopkins Consortium for School-Based Health Solutions.1 She also serves as a core faculty member of the Johns Hopkins Center for School Health.2 Her research is centered on health promotion and innovation within child-serving organizations, with a focus on childhood obesity prevention, childhood nutrition and active play, and school success.1

Dr. Francis employs diverse methodological approaches, including mixed methods, epidemiology, and community-based participatory methods, to inform the development, adaptation, implementation, and evaluation of programs for children and families, supporting the primary prevention of nutrition-related chronic diseases.1 Her work also seeks to illuminate the role of and address the adverse social and structural determinants of healthy eating.1

Lucine earned an AB in neuroscience from Smith College and a BS and PhD in nursing from Johns Hopkins.1 She obtained additional scientific training in mental health, parenting, and parent engagement as a Morton K. and Jane Blaustein postdoctoral fellow in mental health and psychiatric nursing.1
