I started writing cultural commentary again in 2016. My latest article for Salon is very important to me. As someone who worked in old media at The Chicago Tribune, and went on to build the new media in the early days of The Huffington Post and as the first curator of Upworthy, the question of whether our latest efforts in the media business are building anything that's positive for society is a very big one. I hope you'll find some time in the first week of the new year to think hard about how we can get out of this very bad media matrix.
