Dr. Magdelana (Maggie) Red is the Executive Director of Equity Labs at the University of Denver, leading a diversity, equity, and inclusion program dedicated to fostering lasting change.
With over fifteen years of experience in non-profit and higher education sectors, Magdelana has a rich background rooted in the central valley of California and enriched through research and study in Latin America.
She holds a PhD in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder, a Master's degree in Latin American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor's degree in Politics from the University of San Francisco.
Throughout her career, Dr. Red has held various key positions such as the Executive Director of Equity Labs at Equity Labs, Former Associate Dean of Programs & Partnerships at Colorado Women’s College, and Academic Director & Associate Professor in Communication Management at the University of Denver.
Her expertise extends to teaching roles in Women and Gender Studies, International Studies, and Communication Management; she has also served in leadership positions at reputed institutions like the Korbel School of International Studies.
Prior to her academic career, Magdelana Red has also worked as a Program Specialist at Denver Options, CTAT, and in advocacy and communications roles at the Colorado Association of School Boards and the Hispanic Center of Excellence at The University of Texas at Austin.
