Highlights
Is your organization truly compliant? Does every member of your staff—licensed and unlicensed—have the EDUCATION, TRAINING AND KNOWLEDGE required under the rules and regulations set by the Board of Nursing or Medicine? It's not just about checking boxes; it’s about ensuring that everyone is competent in their roles with appropriate delegations within scopes.
When plaintiffs' attorneys or regulatory boards scrutinize your files, can you prove that your team has the EDUCATION, TRAINING AND KNOWLEDGE to perform their duties? If these boxes aren’t checked, it can lead to serious consequences, including allegations and or charges of negligence or even rise to the level of gross negligence, which can even be classified as abuse or assault. That would also involve other entities like CMS, HHS, DHS…..
Not something one would leave to chance ever. These are topics and discussions that I hope to continue at HLTH24, reach out to me let’s connect. Let's ensure we are all fully compliant and protected.

DOCUMENTATION, DOCUMENTATION, DOCUMENTATION…
As #nurses and healthcare organizations, documentation is critical—especially when things go wrong. Too often, essential documentation is overlooked, particularly in environments with outdated systems, #hightech reliance, or even #papercharting. And in cases like #hospitalsystemdowntime or #ransomwarattacks, saying "the computers were down" isn’t enough; that’s #negligence & possibly #grossnegligence. Listen up folks those are different & those ramifications life long.
Errors happen, and they’re costly—sometimes deadly. Per WHO, medical errors rank as the 10th leading cause of death globally. If you take nothing else away from this, remember: Documentation is not just paperwork; it’s a lifesaver. Poorly done or absent documentation puts everyone at risk, and when a case resurfaces years later, those gaps could be devastating.
To address the problem at its root: prevention. Preventative education is crucial, whether in schools, clinics, hospitals, or other settings. My background in bedside nursing, regulation, and as an expert as a legal nurse allows me to offer comprehensive support.
One of my signature courses focuses on this key gap: CHARTING TO PROTECT YOUR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE.
This course goes beyond basic documentation. I cover the definitions of negligence and gross negligence and teach best practices for robust documentation. The goal is to safeguard licenses, patients, and organizations. Many #nurses face issues due to inadequate documentation, which can lead to serious consequences. By emphasizing proper documentation and preventative measures, we aim to avoid these pitfalls.
Proper charting isn't just about avoiding trouble—it's a common-sense approach that ensures cost capture and nurse protection, benefiting everyone involved. Chart like your license depends on it, IT JUST MIGHT.
To truly protect your professional license and ensure robust documentation practices, join my signature charting course. Learn how to prevent issues before they arise with best practices designed for #nurses.
