With the whole world celebrating Women’s day today there is a question which we need to ask ourselves - ‘Are we celebrating the physical form called the 'woman' or are we celebrating the ‘feminine’ power existing in the world?’

If it is the physical form we are celebrating then Happy Women's day to all the ladies.

But if we were to go a bit deeper we'll realise that there is a feminine aspect inside all of us and there is this masculine side too in all of us.

The feminine is which gives us the power to love, to care, to have compassion, to nurture, to look inward, to do multitasking.

And the masculine gives us the power to face, to brave, to focus, to achieve, to explore, to look outward..

So irrespective of who we are physically- man or a woman, we have in us in varying proportions the combination of both the feminine and masculine personalities.

Even if we were to talk about the physical form then in a glance at our culture of the last many thousands of years one can find innumerable traditions, rituals and facts which reflect that women have always been looked up to, that they have been revered, that they have been respected.

Don't know about other cultures but our culture has women right next to the men. So no God is alone, there is a Goddess along with him and she is equally powerful. So Brahma has Saraswati, Vishnu has Laxmi, Shiva has Parvati.

The physical forms of the Gods and Goddesses have been given for the easy connect with the common man but the deeper ideological reference is that we have both forms within us- the masculine and the feminine.

So in a way we have been having feminine days since humanity.

The physical bodies which we have are just a way of nature to make the human race propagate, nothing else.

But it's not to make us feel different, this physical body is not make us see each other as two different species and spend the rest of our lives proving who is more stronger- male or female, man or a woman?

Culturally we have never been hollow on the realisation that men and women are at par.

All through out my childhood and even now I have never witnessed a Pooja at my home where my father sat all by himself or I did the rituals alone.

It was a no go without 'Her' presence. Same with decisions, all aspects affecting 'her' life she takes the final call, all 'his' areas he has the prerogative.

No brainer to understand that we- man and woman, (in the outside world) the masculine and the feminine, (in the internal world)- we complement each other, we enhance each other, we add grace to each other.

So where is the question of competition? Where is the question of proving that we are equal?

If material quest is important then is love and compassion not at par? Being loving, is it not a powerful virtue? Being able to nurture, is it not a great feat?

Or is everything going to be compared with the economic angle, from materialistic gains?
