Manuel's impressive career includes creating groundbreaking bioinformatics software such as MacGene in 1986, GeneWorks (later marketed by IntelliGenetics) in 1990, and Primer Express (later marketed by Applied Biosystems) in 1996.

Moreover, he co-founded NetGenics in 1996, alongside Wally Gilbert, where they successfully secured over $50 million in venture capital funding. Together, they pioneered innovative software that revolutionized the integration of genomic data in drug discovery processes.

His educational background includes an A.B. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Harvard University.
