The human brain consumes roughly 20W power, and it takes roughly 20 years to train it well. So it takes roughly 3.5 MWh to create a human #intelligence.

An NVIDIA A100 #GPU has a TDP (thermal design power) of 400W. It took 25,000 of them for 100 days to train #GPT-4. That's roughly 24 GWh to create a #GenAI - which is still far from #AGI.

So GenAI takes 10,000x the energy of the human mind to train for a much narrower use case. This means, at the current pace of Moore's Law, it will take >50 years for #AI to reach the energy efficiency of the human brain (barring AI/ML architecture breakthroughs). Think about it.
