Some people have the gift of brightening up a room. That was Patrick Bosteels. I first met this eccentric Belgian man with a Turkish soul in a co-working space in Istanbul to discuss a partnership with Re:Coded. Ever the optimist, Patrick was not discouraged by obstacles and quickly became a friend of Re:Coded, as well as a friend of mine.

I am heartbroken to learn that Patrick has passed away. Every pitch deck training, every entrepreneurship meeting, and every hackathon are now a little bit less joyful because Patrick is no longer here.

Patrick worked with Re:Coded in 2017 and 2018 as a trainer and mentor, including a memorable trip to Erbil when we crossed into the Kurdistan Region of Iraq by land from Turkey. He touched the life of many of our students and he will be dearly missed.

Thank you, Patrick.
