Robopsychology is coming and it will redefine how we impart key personality traits to robots and AI systems.

Robots and AI are getting smarter and more humanlike. They will soon enter our homes and workplaces.

How will we interact with them? How will they interact with us? How do we intentionally guide this aspect of human-computer interaction for a future that optimally serves humanity?

Robopsychology studies the personalities and behavior of intelligent machines. It also designs, develops, and evaluates robots and AI.

How can we teach robots and AI skills, emotions, and values? How can we evaluate their performance, reliability, and safety?

Robopsychology is a new interdisciplinary domain at the intersection of of AI, robotics, and Psychology.

Humanoid robots look and act like humans and have advantages, like natural interaction, and social adaptability if designed with psychological principles in mind.

But they can also have disadvantages, such as complexity, cost, and the dreaded uncanny valley.

Amazon, OpenAI, and Tesla are investing heavily AI and robotics. They are developing and testing robots with minds that can think, perceive, and even have personality.

The future of human-robot interaction is approaching fast.

Robopsychology is necessary and important for intentionally crafting robot personality in a manner that feels natural and inspires confidence.

This domain of research helps us understand robots and AI better, and makes them understand us better.

With each day passes, we edge closer to interacting with artificial intelligence and robotics as a part of our daily lives.
