Cautionary tale: AI thinks my human-written content is AI-generated! (Talk about taking credit for someone else's work! )

But seriously, if you are someone that uses AI detection to determine if content is AI-written, please know that these systems can get it wrong.

Way wrong.

I've been using AI and plagiarism checkers on my own content and that of our teams as a way to get a feel if Google might mark our content as AI generated and reduce our ranking. These are unique startups, a digital wallet and an EV car company, with unique value props. Thus, we have not encountered any issues with plagiarism.

However, we consistently come up in these detectors as being mostly AI-written. We do use AI a bit as an aid on some projects, but no where near the scores being generated by these systems. And every piece is human-edited as well.

Is it because we are all geniuses? Is it because we are writing about technical concepts? I'd really like to understand the rubric these systems use.

My caution to you is, if you use these checkers, know that they can get it wrong. If it's a cover letter, essay, proposal, collateral piece and you are going to judge it negatively if it uses AI, you may want to rely on something in addition to these checkers. Either that, or reconsider if using AI is a bad thing if the quality of the output is great.

For professors, in particular, please know that these systems are not foolproof. I'd hate to have a student flagged for AI when they really did originate their content.

My latest test? 100% human-written. More than one detector said it was 100% AI written.

Maybe that's a compliment!

P.S. as I write this, I noticed a button on LinkedIn that says "Rewrite with AI". All things considered, for this post, I'll pass.

A few, short video clips made with Luma from Luma Labs. As with all AI, the outcomes are highly dependent upon the prompt. Here are the results of 3 different prompts in an attempt to get a group of superheros working together at a conference table.

Perhaps this is some hint of an upcoming meeting?

You know it is....

While the content results need work, and there are improvements to be made in my prompting, the ability of AI to conceptualize a business meeting with people around a table, movement, conversation and the context of superheroes is something that was not possible 6 months ago with most genAI without rendering wildly distorted body parts/movement and wildly different outcomes from similar prompts.

Tremendous progress in a very short amount of time.

This is more than a panda riding a skateboard, or a gen ai beauty shot or landscape. It's complex scenario...

And I'm here for it.

Teaser: Wait for the final frames of the 3rd video. You gotta see it....
