Highlights
Many congratulations to our Flagship Pioneering team on the news of completing our latest fund. It's exciting to be part of an ecosystem committed to making leaps for patients as we are at Montai Therapeutics for patients suffering with chronic diseases. I shared my thoughts on the benefits of our disruptive innovation model as part of today's Boston Globe piece by Scott Kirsner. The company that spawned Moderna just raised $3.6 billion to back more big ideas in life sciences.
Thanks again to the Skoll Foundation for a powerful Skoll World Forum this week in the UK. Events like this serve two important purposes in my mind: 1) to bring together committed change leaders from different sectors to curate collaborative solutions to the world's most pressing problems, and 2) to inspire each of us to think beyond what we believed was possible to create bolder and more inclusive systemic solutions.
The "AI for Good" presentation and working session yesterday led by Jim Fruchterman at Tech Matters, Rikin Gandhi at Digital Green, Kate Kallot at Amini, Debbie Rogers at Reach Digital Health, and Antaraa Vasudev at Civis and moderated by Shashi Buluswar at Institute for Transformative Technologies was a highlight on the many ways innovators are leveraging AI to reimagine new approaches to empower local communities with transformed access to information and trusted collaboration networks. It put a spring in my step to keep pushing boundaries in the work we are doing at Montai Health to leverage AI to reimagine drug discovery to more rapidly bring powerful and accessible small molecule therapies to address the enormous unmet needs of 10s of millions of patients around the world suffering from chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
