Maria de Lurdes Lopes is an accomplished journalist with a vast experience spanning several decades across various media outlets.

She began her career in journalism in 1985 as a Secretary at Teatro da Graça in Lisbon before transitioning to reporting roles at different organizations.

Maria worked as a Journalist at Jornal África from 1988 to 1990, where she covered significant events such as Namibia's independence process and conducted reports in Mozambique and Cape Verde.

Her career at Agência Lusa started in 1990 as a Correspondent in the Santarém district and expanded into various roles, including being a Journalist residing in Santarém from 1998 to 2005.

In the period between 1991 and 1995, Maria served as an Associate Editor in the Africa Department at Agência Lusa, with notable fieldwork on Angola's electoral process, conflicts, peace talks, and renewed conflicts.

She continued her journey within Agência Lusa as a Redactor in the Economics Department from 2005 to 2007 before becoming the Deputy Editor of the Lusophony/International Editorial Department from January to November 2013.

Maria's dedication to journalism led her to her role as a Journalist residing in the Santarém district at Agência Lusa in 2007, showcasing her commitment to delivering news from this region.

Her profound expertise and experiences with Agência Lusa culminated in her position as a Journalist and Resident at the same agency in the Santarém district during 2013 and 2014.

Alongside her work at Agência Lusa, Maria also ventured into radio, working as a Journalist at Rádio Piranha in Santarém in 1990 and subsequently joining Rádio Ribatejo from May to December 1987 when it was owned by TSF.

Maria pursued her education at Frequência Faculdade Psicologia UL and Universidade Aberta, enhancing her knowledge and skills in journalism.
