Mariana Prieto

Conservation Design Director, Conservation International

Mariana Prieto is the Director of Conservation Design at Conservation International, where she applies design methodologies to tackle large-scale conservation issues with a focus on enhancing ocean health and supporting coastal communities.

With a background in product design, transportation design, and a wealth of experience in social innovation spanning over a decade, Mariana has worked on diverse projects ranging from healthcare to financial inclusion and the refugee crisis.

Having transitioned to climate and conservation work in 2019, Mariana found her calling in bridging the gap between people and the planet, combining her passion for design and environmental sustainability.

Her educational journey includes studying Product Design with Honors at ArtCenter College of Design, Transportation Design at Istituto Europeo di Design, and Design at NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti.

Mariana Prieto has held various key roles in several organizations before her current position at Conservation International, including Creative Leader at Neol, Adjunct Associate Professor at ArtCenter College of Design, and Founder & Director of Innovation at Design for Wildlife, among others.

She has contributed significantly to the field of design and social innovation as reflected in her diverse roles such as Design & Innovation Lead at International Rescue Committee, Global Design Fellow at IDEO.org, and as a TED Resident at TED Conferences.

Mariana's commitment to education is evident through her role as a Social Innovation Design Lab Instructor at USC Marshall School of Business and as the Primary License Holder and Organizer of TEDxArtCenterCollegeofDesign at ArtCenter College of Design.
