Highlights
Proud to have joined the Zero Food Waste Coalition in its efforts to advocate for #foodwaste policies at Capitol Hill last week! #ZFWCHillDay2024
We talked to House and Senate representatives and encouraged them to include policies that prevent and reduce food waste in the next Farm Bill. Some key policies include:
- Standardizing food date labels through the bipartisan Food Date Labeling Act of 2023 (H.R. 3159; S. 1484)
- Establishing an Office of Food Loss and Waste at USDA, investing in food loss and waste infrastructure in communities, and investing in food loss and waste research through the bipartisan NO TIME TO Waste Act (H.R.5657; S.2889)
- Funding the USDA Food Waste Liaison, community compost and food waste reduction grants, and a national food waste reduction campaign (as part of Agriculture and Interior Appropriation Requests).

Thanks to Tori Oto, Alyson Schill, Katlyn Marchini, Anna Mahoney and Scott Smithline for being a great team!
