Highlights
Biofuel supply is currently outpacing demand and many companies are opting for cheaper fossil fuels due to inflation, political uncertainty and a lack of legislation.
Koen Heesbeen, Managing Partner at STX Group, spoke to Carel Grol from Het Financieele Dagblad, on the current state of investment in the biofuels industry.
“We expect the market to continue to grow over the next few years as there will be better clarity in European legislation and political priorities, incentivizing demand for more sustainable fuels,” said Koen.

🏆We're excited to announce that STX Group has been named Climate Risk Manager of the Year by Energy Risk Awards 2024! This award recognizes our leadership and innovation in tackling climate risk, both internally and for our clients.
Our win highlights our commitment to making environmental commodities more accessible. As companies seek to finance renewable energy, carbon offsets and other climate solutions, STX Group is developing creative solutions to unlock capital and improve liquidity in these markets.
“The Climate risk manager of the year was a hotly contested category in this year’s Energy Risk awards,” says Stella Farrington, head of content for Energy Risk. “STX Group stood out for its novel and creative approach to addressing funding and liquidity needs in environmental markets. By creating a credit facility - which allows environmental products to be used as collateral – as well as special purpose vehicles, STX Group is providing vital working capital to firms navigating the increasingly key environmental markets. These innovative structures are helping environmental markets move to the next level of maturity.”
"We are proud to have been at the forefront of transformative initiatives over the past months, positioning STX Group as a key player in the environmental commodities market and the global energy transition. Looking ahead, we remain committed to driving new milestones, forging partnerships and delivering innovative climate solutions for a more sustainable economy,” said Tim Pabst, Managing Director North America, , who yesterday received the award at the ceremony in Houston.
We would also like to congratulate Vertis Environmental Finance, part of STX Group, which was named "Emissions House of the Year"!
