How are your New Years’ resolutions going?

If you’re like most of us (including me), they’ve already fallen by the wayside. But, fret not, because there’s no time like the present moment to readjust and make a new start.

Research on the neuroscience of goals and behavior change suggests that we are more likely to stay motivated to acheive our goals when they are aligned with:

⭐️ The ideal future version of you (your best self)

⭐️ What’s most important to you (your values)

To reinvigorate your resolutions, ask yourself:

⭐️ How would recommitting to my resolutions help me to become the best version of me?

⭐️ How would recommitting to my resolutions help me to honor what’s most important to me?

And don’t forget to break big changes down to small, manageable parts ✨ and be flexible and kind to yourself in the process of working toward your goals.

If that still doesn’t work, you might want to rethink your resolutions and instead identify the goals and actions that are in direct alignment with getting you closer to your values and the best version of you ✨

Seize the day!

Happy Valentine's Day! On this day of celebrating love, don’t forget to show some love to yourself.

The benefits are many. And, given the impact of the past few years, it’s never been more important.

Why?

❤️ Self-care, and specifically, a certain type of self-care called self-compassion, is associated with lower levels of anxiety and depression, improved relationships, enhanced mental health and wellbeing, and even improved work performance.

❤️ You don’t have to do anything elaborate, spend much time, or any money. Start by noticing when you are having self critical thoughts. In reponse, give yourself a little kindness, a little understanding, a little support. Offer yourself some compassion and say to yourself what you would say to your best friend or a beloved family member.

❤️ When it comes to self-care and self-compassion, a little can go a long way today, and every day.

What are your favorite ways to practice self-care and self-compassion?
