In our monthly studio game analysis, we picked Last War: Survivor a top chart game published by Fun First, estimated to generate $3 million in monthly revenue according to Sensor Tower.

This game cleverly uses Hypercasual game mechanics as a Troy horse to promote a real time strategy game, smoothly integrating them from ads to onboarding.

The onboarding experience in the game aligns with the hyper-casual gameplay seen in the ads, ensuring a consistent funnel for players. Because by experience, If the game deviates from this in the beginning, players might lose interest and disengage.

As players progress, the initial hyper-casual gameplay gradually changes into a base-building mechanics. What initially appears as a meta-game evolves into the core gameplay, and then cleverly replacing the initial hyper-casual mechanics with a hybrid-casual gameplay. This serves two purposes: To prevent players from feeling misled by the initial HC gameplay, and to deeply align it with the core strategy gameplay.

So far, this is one of the best games that uses HC as a decoy to reduce CPI and on-board players smoothly from casual to core.
