Mark Cassidy

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology

Professor Mark Cassidy is currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Melbourne, overseeing a large staff of over 800 academics and professionals and more than 11,000 students.

His educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering from the University of Oxford, a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Civil Engineering with 1st Class Honours and a University Medal from The University of Queensland, and he is a Graduate of the Company Directors Course (GAICD) from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Professor Cassidy's professional experience spans across various notable roles including being a former Board Member at ACMD Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery, a former Board Member at Forrest Research Foundation, and a former Warden of Forrest Research Foundation at the University of Western Australia.

Moreover, he has a rich history of academic appointments having served as the Professor of Civil Engineering, Director of the Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems, Research Associate, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Professorial Fellow at the University of Western Australia.

Additionally, Professor Cassidy has contributed to the academic community as the Former Chair of Academic Promotion Committee at the University of Western Australia, a Former Stipendiary Lecturer at Brasenose College, Oxford, and a Former Board Member at St George's College, UWA.

Throughout his career, he has also worked as an Engineer at Arup, showcasing his practical industry experience alongside his academic achievements.
