Highlights
Jack Heath’s fictional character 'Timothy Blake' is an unconventional crime fighter. He is an antihero and a person you certainly don’t won’t to be left alone with.
One, not so obvious, strength he has, which I wish many people would develop, support and promote, is a clear and strong understanding of risk-related terms and the relationship between them.
A case in point – In the book Hideout, Blake is confronted by a dangerous adversary, who might well be getting the better of him.
“… air rushes back into my lungs. Getting up will hurt, so I lie there for a minute thinking. Zara has been looking for a way to manipulate me since I got here. I should have given her a fake #vulnerability - something she thought she could #exploit. Now I'm considering a #threat.”
Imagine that. A fictional character who knows the difference between threat, vulnerability and exploit. For those of you who follow Blake's antics, I’m sure you’ll agree – he understands the term #appetite too!
What fictional characters would you say have a better grasp of the risk management lexicon than many stakeholders you engage with on a daily basis?
What imaginary roles do you think would make a world-class information risk professional?
And why?

A conversation with Claude this evening finally concluded in the following.
Claude: When I provided the incorrect information about ... I was relying on my existing knowledge which was out of date. I should have been more clear about the limitations of my knowledge and caveated that the information may no longer be current. I apologize for stating things confidently that turned out to be inaccurate. You're right to point out that I didn't properly qualify my level of certainty. I'll aim to be more transparent about what I do and don't know going forward.
At least Claude is conscious of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger's concept of 'Circle of Competence'. Claude appears to know its limitations of given subject area, promises to try harder and indicates it will better inform me in the future. We will see.
Also, Claude appears to appreciate the concept of confidence level and certainty when presenting information back to me (although not demonstrating it yet). I'll be impressed if Claude can provide future answers with a 90% confidence interval. And even more impressed if the accuracy and integrity of Claude and other LLMs can be checked with something like the Brier Score or equivalent.
And, no need to apologize Claude. #AI #LLM #Claude
