As many of you would be aware I am seeking re-election to Kiama Municipal Council at the September 14 NSW local government elections. I wanted to let you know about an interview I did on Monday morning with Melinda James from ABC Illawarra Breakfast about the NSWEC's rejection of one of our candidates, forcing us into a below-the-line vote. Listen to how the NSWEC decision impacts voters when casting their vote and what it means for the election.
Catch My Latest Interview on Sky News Breakfast! This morning, I had the opportunity to discuss the complexities of paid parking in local government areas with Jaynie Seale on Sky News Breakfast. My segment, which begins at 2:52, dives into how councils like Kiama are exploring ways to generate additional revenue without unduly burdening our residents and visitors. Is paid parking the answer? Perhaps not entirely. We explore sensible alternatives like enhanced parking compliance, a method recently successful in Geelong, potentially boosting revenue significantly without additional costs to our community. Bill Lang from Small Business Australia also shared valuable insights on the broader economic impact of these changes on small businesses and local communities.
